Welcome to the Chief Tuskaloosa Chapter, NSDAR - 125 Years Dedicated to Historic Preservation, Education, and Patriotism!
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) is a women's service organization composed of members who can trace their lineage back to Patriots of the American Revolutionary War.  We are committed to promoting historic preservation, education, and patriotism in our communities.

The Chief Tuskaloosa Chapter, NSDAR, was founded in 1901 by 12 visionary women and proudly celebrated its 125th Anniversary on Feb. 1, 2026. From those humble beginnings, the chapter has grown to nearly 130 members - women ages 18 to 100, hailing from Tuscaloosa and surrounding areas, as well as others from greater distances.

For 125 years, our chapter has remained passionately dedicated to patriotism, education, and historic preservation. Whether we are participating in our town's annual reading of the Declaration of Independence, honoring and supporting our Veterans, researching our ancestry, transcribing historic documents, presenting awards to outstanding students, or maintaining and cleaning historic cemeteries, we approach every effort with purpose and enthusiasm.

Learn more about our activities on the What We Do page, explore photos of us in action in our Gallery, and see if your Patriot Ancestor is among those shared by our members.

We meet on the second Friday of each month from September through April - come join us! We warmly invite you to become part of the Chief Tuskaloosa Chapter, NSDAR. We'd love to have you!
